Although I would like nothing more than to have my Sailor home for the holidays, I am still thankful this Thanksgiving. Here’s a few things that I’m thankful for despite the distance between us…
- I am thankful for him first and foremost. That he has become such an important part of my life. That he wants nothing but the best for me. That he supports me in every decision I make. I’m thankful that he cares about me and treats me better than anyone else has.
- I am also thankful that although he isn’t here, he also isn’t deployed. For the time being, he is on U.S. Soil, and even though it isn’t the soil in my backyard, I’m thankful that he’s safe.
- I am thankful for all the memories that we share. I’m thankful for the time we have been able to spend in each other’s arms, as well as in our hearts. Although we don’t get to spend this holiday season together, I am thankful that we will be able to spend many holidays together someday.
- I am thankful for the opportunity to be his partner in this adventurous dating experience. Of all the possible girls he could’ve chosen, he chose me and in turn, I chose him, and together we have chosen to be happy with each other even when we aren’t really with each other. I’m thankful that we both continuously put in the effort necessary for our relationship to be a successful and happy one.
